Lankford Leaps to Strong 10 Point Lead in U.S. Senate Race
Oklahoma City- After only a few weeks of television advertising, the latest polls show James Lankford has extended his lead by a strong 10 points in the race for US Senate. The Lankford campaign shows incredible momentum, advancing Lankford’s lead 9 points since the voters were last surveyed.
“It is not enough to simply talk about the problems we face as a nation, we must make reasonable steps to solve the issues. I am grateful my commitment to conservative solutions and hard work is resonating with Oklahomans,” Lankford said in response to the latest polls.
“I feel confident the momentum will continue through the Republican primary as we engage individual Oklahomans in all corners of the state,” Lankford said.
The most recent poll conducted by The Tarrance Group reveals Lankford leading with 43% percent of likely Republican primary voters. State Representative TW Shannon trailed behind with support from 33% of likely voters.
The Lankford campaign is confident of the results which also show Lankford with a 24% lead among Republicans who voted in at least three of the last four primary elections. Polls show that Lankford is particularly favorable among current constituents in Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District as well as holding over a 14 point lead state-wide among senior citizens.
The most recent poll was based on a survey conducted May 12-14, 2014, approximately two weeks after Lankford began television advertising statewide.
Lankford has been endorsed by other conservative leaders including Gov. Mike Huckabee and Jay Sekulow, and has received support from his colleague Rep. Trey Gowdy.
