Ron Peters Announces Bid for Commission Seat
Former Legislator Brings Business Experience, Leadership to Race

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa businessman, entrepreneur and former State Representative Ron Peters, announced his intention to run as the Republican candidate for the Tulsa County Commission District #3 seat being vacated by retiring Commissioner Fred Perry. Peters, a lifetime member of the Tulsa community, believes strong and decisive leadership is essential in maintaining the history and tradition that defines a lifestyle Tulsa County residents expect.

“As a lifelong Tulsan, I want to make sure our City and County move in a positive direction. Likewise, the growth that the suburban communities have experienced helps the entire county. It is important for the County to partner with Bixby, Jenks, Broken Arrow and Glenpool to support their infrastructure needs to ensure that this growth continues. Our successes depend on working together for the benefit of all,” Peters said.

“While it is gratifying to see the tremendous revitalization in downtown Tulsa, we must not lose our focus on future growth that can come from development of the Arkansas River. While in the Legislature, I supported efforts to take advantage of the great potential offered by the Arkansas River – all the way from south Tulsa to Broken Arrow and beyond. Likewise, the County has invested millions of dollars to help facilitate the rivers development. Many communities that have been blessed with a river like the Arkansas have flourished. We need to use this asset to secure a prosperous future for Tulsa County.”

Peters has also organized an impressive and diverse steering committee made up of public servants, businessmen and women, and educators to support the campaign. The committee includes: Bob Dick, Bob LaFortune, Bob Sullivan, Bob Jack, Chuck Patterson, Dan Zaloudek, Don Walker, Frazier Henke, Howard Barnett, Jay Helm, John Brock, Joe McGraw, John Bowen, Jono Helmerich, Kell Kelly, Larry Mocha, Mike Cooper, Mitch Adwon, Paula Marshall, Rick Neal, Stuart Solomon, Tom McKeon and Wade Edmundson. “These men and women have dedicated huge amounts of their time to help make Tulsa a better place to live, work and raise a family. I feel quite honored to have their support,” Peters said.

Peters has been deeply involved in community activities, working to make Tulsa County a better place for all. Over the years, he has served as Board President, and on the Boards of many non-profit organizations such as: the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, Hospice of Green Country, and the Tulsa Boy’s Home. He has worked to improve education by serving on Boards for Junior Achievement and Rogers State University. As a seasoned community leader, he has the pulse on the needs of the people in Tulsa County.

“The Tulsa area is a very special place for me. Over my business career, I had many business opportunities which would have required that my family and I move from Tulsa. I have resisted those job offers, and today, I am prepared to give my time and attention to the County that has been so very good to my family and me.”

“I also want to thank Fred Perry for his many years of public service, and wish him well with future endeavors.

Ron Peters would bring more than a decade of experience in public service to the job. He used conservative Republican views to represent House District 70 in the Oklahoma State House of Representatives from 2000 until 2012. Prior to that time, Ron worked in the energy industry in Tulsa. Working for companies such as Cities Service and Occidental Oil and Gas. He has been the President of RelationsInc. a public relations firm since starting that company in 1997.

A graduate of the University of Tulsa, Ron holds degrees in business and management. Ron and Bonnie Peters have been married for 47 years, they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
