22 Days: Primary Election Quickly Approaching

Primaries sneaking up on Tulsa area voters; here’s a rundown of races

The 2014 election is coming on little cat feet.

Oh, sure, U.S. Senate candidates T.W. Shannon and James Lankford have been stomping around the state ahead of the June 24 primaries, but the other races that will be decided, or largely decided, long before November have attracted much less attention.

Even ardent Republicans may need reminding that Gov. Mary Fallin and U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe have primary opponents. So do 2nd and 3rd District Congressmen Markwayne Mullin and Frank Lucas. The 2nd District also has a Democratic primary.

Eight area legislative districts have primaries, including four that will be determined in the Republican primary or, in one case, possibly an Aug. 26 runoff.
