Oklahoma among the worst states in midterm voter turnout

Voter turnout for Tuesday’s midterm election here in Oklahoma was historically low. And while midterm elections typically don’t yield as high turnout rates as presidential election years, Oklahoma saw a particularly steep 9 percent drop from its 2010 midterm turnout rates, according to projections published by the data analysis site FiveThirtyEight.

The only states with steeper percentage drops from 2010 to this year’s election were California (9.2 percent), Nevada (9.5 percent), South Dakota (11.5 percent), Alabama (9.5 percent), Delaware (thirteen percent) and Vermont (9.2 percent).
