Public Could Vote On Capitol Bond Projects
Public vote possible on Oklahoma Capitol bonds

A resolution that would authorize a public vote on the issuance of $120 million in bonds to finance repairs to Oklahoma’s crumbling state Capitol building was approved Thursday by the state House of Representatives.
“Ultimately, something has to be done with this building,” said House Speaker Jeff Hickman, House author of the resolution, which passed, 59-31.
Hickman, R-Fairview, said $120 million is the construction estimate for how much repairs will cost before any contingency expenses are added.
Passage of the resolution preserves the option of asking for a public vote on a state Capitol bond issue, Hickman told House members.
