Oklahoma Indian gaming revenues continue to thrive, report shows

Oklahoma Indian gaming revenues are growing more than three times faster than national Indian gaming revenues, according to a report released Wednesday by a California economist.

Casino City’s 2014 Indian Gaming Industry Report portrays a thriving Oklahoma Indian gaming industry, listing nearly a dozen new or expanded casino-related facilities that opened in 2013 and identifying several more scheduled to open in 2014 or 2015.

Among the expansion projects the report cites as being on the horizon this year are:

• A third hotel tower at the Chickasaw Nation’s WinStar World Casino near Thackerville, expected to be completed by May.

• The addition of a hotel at the Comanche Red River Casino near Devol, which is scheduled to open this spring.

• An expansion of the Wyandotte Nation Casino in Wyandotte that will double the size of the existing casino and add a bowling alley and entertainment venue. It is scheduled for completion in late 2014.

“Oklahoma is continuing to grow at a healthy pace,” said California economist Alan Meister, who compiled the report.
