OKC Mayor’s Race Tops $1Million

Cornett raised nearly $800K for his re-election campaign

BY WILLIAM CRUM

Mayor Mick Cornett raised nearly $800,000 for his re-election campaign, according to reports filed this week with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.

Cornett won 65.7 percent of the vote in the March 4 election to become the only Oklahoma City mayor to win four terms in office.

The latest campaign finance reports were due at the Ethics Commission on Monday. They reflect contributions and spending in the last two weeks of the campaign and in the two weeks following the election.

While Cornett’s campaign met the deadline, Ward 2 Councilman Ed Shadid’s campaign still appeared not to have filed by 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Shadid did not respond to a telephone message left Wednesday afternoon.

Campaigns upload reports to an Ethics Commission website, where they are available to the public. Both campaigns had trouble uploading their initial reports last month.
