Barresi Plugs Nearly $1 Million Into Campaign
State superintendent primary race sees big Barresi cash-infusion, little Democratic spending

Just-filed campaign finance reports show State Superintendent Janet Barresi has pumped about $910,000 of her own cash into her re-election campaign coffers and spent nearly three times more than all other candidates since April 1.
The controversial incumbent was out-raised by a ratio of 4-to-1 by her GOP rival Joy Hofmeister and nearly 2-to-1 by Democratic candidates John Cox and Freda Deskin during the most recent reporting period that ended June 9.
The state superintendent race is the most competitive statewide office to be put to Oklahoma voters in the June 24 primary election.
Oklahoma Ethics Commission reports show Barresi has now loaned her campaign a total of $1.26 million and received a total of $217,155 in contributions. Contributions to her campaign during the pre-primary period of April 1 through June 9 totaled $14,800.
