AARP Voices Objections To PSO Smart Meters
AARP challenges AEP-PSO smart meter plan

A key holdout against AEP-PSO’s $120 million plan to install smart meters statewide had its day in court Tuesday.
Representatives with retirees advocate AARP testified in front of Administrative Law Judge Jacqueline Miller at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission courtroom in Oklahoma City. Miller could make her recommendation after the Aug. 22 filing deadline, then the full commission would vote on the plan.
American Electric Power-Public Service Co. of Oklahoma hopes to raise bills about $3.11 per month for residential customers to pay for the smart meter installation. The utility plans to install more than 500,000 meters statewide.
Sean Voskuhl, state director for AARP, said his group tried to make its case that the smart meter plan is flawed and unproven. He said that AEP-PSO did not include data from its smart meter pilot project in Owasso that could prove the cost-benefit analysis.
