Inhofe Opponent Silverstein: ‘I’m The Democrat Tom Coburn’
Candidate reflects back on chance encounter with Inhofe

OKLAHOMA CITY — Matt Silverstein clearly remembers the day in 2001 when he first met U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe.
The two sat next to each other on a flight from Chicago to Tulsa. Silverstein was impressed by the chance encounter, deciding that he too might someday pursue a career in public service.
Inhofe must have been impressed, too. Silverstein said the senator exited the plane, walked over to his parents and said, “You have a very intelligent son and he needs to run for public office one day.”
Inhofe clearly didn’t intend for Silverstein to do that by challenging him.
