Lamb: State should remove barriers for oil and gas industry

Keeping the oil and gas industry home with incentives, was a key message of Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb’s speech Wednesday at the National Weather Center in Norman.

A four-month legislative session will always have few missed opportunities, Lamb said, speaking to Norman business leaders at the Chamber of Commerce Legislative luncheon.

Despite the inevitable imperfections, lawmakers made progress and scored a few key successes for the state, he said.

Lamb pointed to the $120 million bond funding for repair of the state capitol building. That money is not for repair of offices or new furniture. It’s for vital repairs to one of Oklahoma’s greatest assets and is long overdue.

“Your capitol is falling apart,“ he said. “Our state capitol is the greatest asset the people have. In real estate, you reinvest in your greatest capital asset.”
