Coburn Clarifies: No Endorsement For Reynolds In Commissioner Runoff

(Muskogee, OK) — U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK) made the following statement today regarding the Republican runoff primary election for County Commissioner District 3 in Cleveland County:

“It has come to my attention that Mike Reynolds, one of the candidates in the Republican runoff primary election for County Commissioner District 3 in Cleveland County, has used my image and a quote from me in his campaign literature to insinuate to voters I am endorsing him in his current race.

“While I helped Mike Reynolds as a state legislator several years ago, I have not endorsed – and will not endorse – him or anyone else in this particular race. It is important for voters in Cleveland County to make their own decisions based on the merits of each candidate.

“I believe how a person runs a campaign says a lot about how that person will govern in office. Frankly, I am disappointed such a tactic has been used to falsely portray to voters that I have made an endorsement in this race.”
