MAJOR MOMENTUM FOR DORMAN
Poll Results: 47%-45% & Strong Debate Performance

OKLAHOMA CITY – Recent polls indicate Joe Dorman, Democratic nominee for governor, is in a statistical dead heat with Mary Fallin. A poll released last week shows Dorman within two-points of Fallin – 47% to 45%.

Additionally, with a strong performance at the recent and only gubernatorial debate, Dorman is further closing in on that two-point difference. Online questionnaires indicate Dorman clearly won the debate, with his continuous focus on improving Oklahoma’s education system and being the in touch leader Oklahomans need and deserve.

“The debate was a great opportunity to allow all Oklahomans, and even the nation, to see the vast differences between the two candidates,” said Dorman. “The Governor stood behind failed high-stakes third grade tests and the flawed A-F grading system, and throughout the debate supported her friend Superintendent Janet Barresi. Regardless of the public outcry, Fallin’s support of Barresi clearly shows the weak, out of touch leader she has been for the last four years.”

Today, the Governor is hosting a statewide STEM Summit and mentioned the need for teacher pay increases while a K-12 education panel mentioned the lack of available resources to provide adequate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education.

“Unfortunately, over the last four years Fallin and Barresi have torn down our education system with high stakes testing practices, flip flopping on Common Core curriculum, which led to a loss of Oklahoman’s No Child Left Behind waiver, and cutting $200 million from our schools,” said Dorman. “It’s no surprise teachers don’t have access to classroom resources needed to teach their students because the Fallin and Barresi team have cut the budgets in the name of ‘efficiency.’”

“Now that Election Day is less than 30 days out, Fallin is using education as another political pawn. Her insincere political maneuver to pretend she supports education is too little, too late,” concluded Dorman.
