Inhofe’s Political Career Continues To Fly High
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe’s political career continues to take wing

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe’s aerial exploits are sometimes a source of humor. A lifelong pilot, Inhofe has flown his share of loopty-loops and escaped some close calls.
Inhofe himself, in response to suggestions he’s getting a little old for public office, has said he’ll retire when he can no longer fly upside down.
All levity aside, though, Inhofe said he believes airplanes have been an important element of his political longevity.
Since winning a 1966 Oklahoma House of Representatives special election, the Tulsa Republican has rarely been out of elected office. He has faced the voters 28 times, including a primary in June, and won 25 of those.
His last loss, for mayor of Tulsa, was 30 years ago.
