The Democratic challenger for Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District seat died after a car wreck, a state Democratic Party leader said.
Earl E. Everett, 81, of Fort Gibson, was in a wreck Friday and was pronounced dead Sunday night, said Wallace Collins, chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party. Collins said Everett’s death was confirmed to the party by the state medical examiner’s office.
Fort Gibson Police Department investigator Stephen Farmer said Everett died at a Tulsa hospital.
He was in a two-car accident in Fort Gibson.
Everett was attempting to cross State Highway 62 when he was hit broadside by a westbound vehicle, Farmer said.
