By RANDY KREHBIEL World Staff Writer
U.S. Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma’s 4th District received nearly $355,000 in campaign contributions during the second quarter of 2015, or nearly twice as much as any of Oklahoma’s four other congressmen, according to reports filed this week with the Federal Election Commission.
Cole’s report shows he finished the three-month period ending June 30 with net contributions of $354,655. The figure included $188,584 from individuals, $169,071 from political action committees and $3,000 in refunds.
The individual contributions include at least $32,000 from American Indian tribes and their leaders. Under state and federal election rules, tribes are considered individuals for reporting purposes.
He also received strong support from the oil and gas industry, including Devon Energy and its officers, and Chesapeake Energy. Major Tulsa donors included Samson Energy Chief Executive Officer Stacy Schusterman and her husband, Steven Dow.
