OK DHS, Health Dept. & Health Care Authority To Offer “Voter Registration Assistance”
State agencies agree to assist in voter registration

OKLAHOMA CITY — State public assistance agencies will begin offering voter registration services under an agreement announced Thursday.
The agreement is the result of a complaint lodged almost a year ago by the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League, the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma and Metropolitan Tulsa, and YWCA Tulsa. In the complaint to Oklahoma Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax, the organizations said the state has been in violation of the National Voter Registration Act, commonly known as the Motor Voter Act.
The act includes provisions that state agencies providing “public assistance” and “services to persons with disabilities” also must provide voter registration forms and help filling out the forms if needed.
