TOWN HALL MEETINGS TO DISCUSS EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNTS

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 14, 2016) – Oklahoma City parents will have the opportunity to learn more about Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) in Oklahoma at one of two town hall meetings taking place next week.

The first, South Town Hall Meeting, is scheduled for next Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Saint Mary High School at 2801 S. Shartel Avenue.

The second opportunity parents will have to hear about ESAs is the North Town Hall Meeting, which will take place on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Bishop McGuinness High School in the Commons at 801 Northwest 50th Street.

Rep. Jason Nelson and Sen. Clark Jolley, ESA bill sponsors, will explain how ESAs give parents control over their child’s share of education funding and allow them to customize their child’s education. Scott Mitchell, host of “Mitchell in the Morning” on NewsTalk Radio 1520, will moderate both meetings.

“This is an extremely important piece of Oklahoma legislation that will have a great impact on a parent’s ability to choose what is in the best interest of their child,” said Renee Porter, executive director of ChoiceMatters for Kids, a parent advocacy organization. “I encourage parents in Oklahoma City area to attend one of the town hall meetings to learn more about ESAs.”
