Oklahoman: As OKC’s Voting Area Evolves, Likewise Do Its Voters
As Oklahoma City’s voting area evolves, likewise do its voters

In a precinct in the heart of Oklahoma City, Republicans will head to the polls on Tuesday favoring different presidential primary candidates but united, strongly, on one thing: They don’t want to see a Democrat in the White House next year.
The Republicans there, many of them loyal to Fox News and conservative talk radio, are afraid of terrorism and believe the U.S. military has been severely weakened by the Obama administration. They also worry about immigration and the national debt.
“We have crazies in the White House,” said June May, 80, a retired physician who lives in the Belle Isle neighborhood and Precinct 196.
Much like the Republican Party, the precinct is relatively old and white.
But younger singles and families are moving in, changing not just the face but the mindset — and the politics. They are people like Sara Jane Rose, 54, who arrived in the neighborhood a decade ago from Los Angeles and had the only children on the block.
