OKLAHOMA CITY –Rep. Seneca Scott’s bill incentivizing Compressed Natural Gas usage for state school districts unanimously passed the House Appropriations and Budget Committee on Natural Resources this week.
House Bill 1583 amends HB 1949, which was written by Speaker Benge in 2009 to further support school districts and municipally owned Compressed Natural Gas fueling stations.
“Compressed Natural Gas now sells for under a $1.00 and we can pass substantial savings and budget relief along to our schools and cities,” says Rep. Scott, D-Tulsa. “With Oklahoma already an industry leader in natural gas, this is just another step to support our state and an emerging industry for our citizens. Increased natural gas production for transportation is good for Oklahoma’s economy, creates Oklahoma jobs, helps reduce Oklahoma’s dependence on foreign oil, and puts fewer pollutants into Oklahoma’s air.”
