Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) has put a hold on Senate Democrats’ continuing resolution to fund the government past March 27, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) isn’t happy about it.
Reid said at a news conference Tuesday that Coburn has put a hold on the bill, which prevents it from coming to a vote, and Coburn’s office has confirmed the hold to Post Politics.
Coburn said he merely wants time to read the bill.
“To not allow us the time … to be able to read and study the bill is really going against the best traditions of Senate but also it goes against common sense,” Coburn said. “How do we know whether we want to offer amendments to the bill if we haven’t read the bill?”
