The Tulsa office of the state Labor Department is being closed, Labor Commissioner Mark Costello confirmed Tuesday.
Located in the state office building at 440 S. Houston Ave., the office employs 14 people. Those employees have been offered early buyouts or the chance to transfer to the department’s main office in Oklahoma City.
Costello said the buyouts are being offered on a “first-come, first-served” basis to the first 10 employees who accept.
The closure is being triggered by a loss of about $300,000 in federal funds, Costello said. Closing the Tulsa office will save about $600,000 a year.
