Tulsa Democrats Endorse Taylor, Filing Monday

Democratic Party endorses Kathy Taylor for mayor;
Taylor to file for office Monday

The Tulsa County Democratic Party unanimously endorsed Kathy Taylor for mayor today at its annual party convention.

“I appreciate the support of the delegates tremendously, and look forward to working with Democrats – as well as Republicans and Independents – to win the election June 11 and bring back proven leadership to City Hall,” she said. Taylor is a Democrat, although for the first time, Tulsa’s municipal elections are non-partisan, which means all voters get to vote in the June election, and if one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote he or she wins outright. When Taylor was first elected to the mayor’s seat in 2006 – defeating incumbent GOP Mayor Bill LaFortune – she enjoyed broad support from Republicans as well as Democrats, and she said she expects similar bi-partisan support this time.

Taylor will officially file for the office at 10:30 am Monday, April 8, at the Tulsa County Election Board at 555 North Denver Ave.ac
