OKLAHOMA CITY – Work on the crumbing state Capitol apparently will get underway if lawmakers approve a supplemental appropriation.
On Thursday, Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, said an agreement had been reached for a supplemental. The amount, however, appeared to be undecided.
Bingman supports $8 million to repair the crumbling exterior limestone and leaks and another $2 million for a study to determine the extent of the repairs needed inside, such as plumbing, electrical systems and structural issues. The study will also discuss how the repairs should be scheduled.
House Speaker T.W. Shannon, R-Lawton, said he wasn’t sure if the $2 million study was necessary.
