With Board Resignation, Hofmeister Eyes Barresi Primary Challenge
State Board of Education member resigns, considers run for state superintendent

The only state Board of Education member from the Tulsa area resigned Wednesday, citing a possible run for the state superintendent’s seat.
Joy Hofmeister, a Tulsa Republican who was appointed to the board by Gov. Mary Fallin in January 2012, submitted her resignation to Fallin effective immediately.
“I am very thankful for the opportunity to have served on the board and to have helped implement so many critical education reforms,” she said in a press release.
“I remain very committed to improving the education environment in Oklahoma, and I look forward to exploring other ways to make our education system better for students and families.”
