OKLAHOMA CITY – When hot-button issues, such as horse slaughter and “Obamacare” are on people’s minds, the telephones in the Governor’s Office can light up like a Christmas tree.
“We think it’s important for us to hear from our customers and respond to them,” said Alex Weintz, spokesman for Fallin.
“We want to have conversations with our constituents. Essentially, we want to know what they’re thinking, and we want them to know what the governor is thinking and serve them where we can.”
Some constituents who have been part of unsuccessful mass telephone campaigns to Fallin’s office say they don’t think they have been treated like valued citizens in that process, but others – including Weintz and callers who were more successful – disagree.
