Tulsa needs a leader in the Mayor’s Office who can “get things done” again, mayoral candidate Kathy Taylor said in a campaign address Tuesday at the Tulsa Press Club.
“I’m running for mayor because I’m troubled by the inability to lead at City Hall — to stand tall for what is right for Tulsa,” she said.
Taylor, who was mayor from 2006-2009 before deciding not to pursue a second term, said familiar problems have resurfaced in the absence of a strong mayor who listens to residents and encourages innovative ideas — including rising crime, spending and threats of losing jobs at the Tulsa International Airport.
“I believe that this city needs a mayor who will be a voice for its citizens,” she said. “I have a proven record of being that voice and that voice is ready to work hard every day for all of you for progress in Tulsa.”
