A Gathering Place for Tulsa lived up to its name Tuesday night as hundreds of people packed into Tulsa Community College’s Center for Creativity for the unveiling of the park’s Phase 1 design.
Those who couldn’t find a place to stand on the ground floor looked down from a catwalk. Those who couldn’t get inside the building stood outside the doors.
“Wow, there are a lot more people here than we thought,” said Jeff Stava of the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which is constructing the park in phases along Riverside Drive.
Bob McCoy, 70, was part of the overflow crowd. “I think it is outstanding,” he said. “I am really excited about it – excited that they have worked so hard to try to incorporate so many different ideas and to simplify it into something that is going to work for us.”
