OKLAHOMA CITY — Prospects for a special session to rework a 2009 lawsuit-reform law the Oklahoma Supreme Court recently found unconstitutional got a little better on Wednesday.
Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, said he supports a special session.
“I would do it — the sooner the better,” he said.
Gov. Mary Fallin said last week that a special session was an option. She reiterated her position Wednesday.
“We are hearing from a lot of the business community that they think it (the nullification of the law) is a big impediment to attracting jobs and expanding jobs and businesses in our state,” Fallin said.
Joe Griffin, spokesman for House Speaker T.W. Shannon, R-Lawton, said Wednesday that “if she decides that (a special session) is the best route, then we will certainly support her in that decision.”
