Lankford: Senate Immigration Bill Doesn’t Solve Problems
Rep. James Lankford: Senate immigration bill doesn’t solve problems
By REP. JAMES LANKFORD
The American dream is as alive and well as it was 237 years ago. Our nation grew and prospered as a nation of immigrants, who want the liberty and opportunity America provides. Oklahomans have no issue with those on a legal naturalization track. They’re frustrated when someone by choice or circumstance doesn’t follow our laws.
Just like every other nation, those who want to live here are expected to follow the proper legal process to temporarily or permanently enter the country.
I recently spoke at a naturalization ceremony in Oklahoma City, where 50 individuals from 18 countries pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America for the first time as U.S. citizens.
It’s a moving experience for anyone, especially for those who just completed our lengthy immigration process. After the ceremony one man told me he embraced his wife and said, “I have never kissed an American before!”
Be wary of this guy, folks. He’s a Boehner/Cantor acolyte on AMNESTY.

Confusing signals are coming from the House GOP leadership the last several days.
On the one hand, they are continuing their long promise to ignore the Senate’s giant amnesty bill.
But they are now indicating they want to have votes this fall on their own amnesties (although they of course don’t admit they are amnesties).
One “legalization” would be for illegal aliens brought here as children.
And the other “legalization” would be for the rest of the 11 million. The presumed difference in this and the Senate amnesty would be that House Republicans would not offer the illegal aliens a “special path to citizenship.”
Just remember that whether illegal aliens get a “special path” to citizenship or some kind of general path, or no path at all, they still get lifetime work permits to compete against American workers.
