Staffs: Bartlett, Taylor Differ On Management Styles
Tulsa mayoral candidates’ managerial styles differ
By KEVIN CANFIELD World Staff Writer
City Council Chairman David Patrick has worked with Mayor Dewey Bartlett and former Mayor Kathy Taylor. Here’s his take on their management styles:
“Kathy, I would say, would be more of a hands-on mayor. She was more involved in almost every issue that came up pertaining to the council and the Mayor’s Office,” Patrick said. “Where Mayor Bartlett is, I guess I would say, is more (of a) delegator.
“That’s not to say either one of them is bad. They both get the job done don’t get me wrong.”
Patrick’s assessment of the mayoral candidates’ managerial styles will come as no surprise to those who follow local politics. But those who have worked closest with Taylor and Bartlett and the candidates themselves say such assessments don’t paint a complete picture of how the candidates do their jobs.
