Candidates Make Final Pitches

This election for mayor is about who has a plan to move Tulsa forward. It’s about who you believe is determined and hard-working enough to get the job done. This race is about who you trust to always tell you the truth even when it’s hard. It’s about who will be transparent, honest and accountable.
I’ve been blessed through hard work and faith. I lost both parents at 19 and had two choices — grow up or give up. So I worked hard, got a job, took out loans and managed to graduate near the top of my University of Oklahoma law school class.

I first ran for mayor in 2009 because I cared deeply about having good fiscal management of our tax dollars, and I wanted Tulsa to be a place that welcomed businesses and the jobs they create. I wanted us to have quality streets and infrastructure.
And I ran because I wanted my family, and all Tulsa families, to be safe and secure throughout our city.
When I was sworn in as mayor, things were heading in the wrong direction. We had lost 18,000 jobs. Homicides were at an all time high, and many other violent crimes were on the rise.
