Bartlett Beats Taylor To Keep Mayor’s Seat
Tulsans on Tuesday re-elected Mayor Dewey Bartlett.
Bartlett stood before supporters at the Jazz Hall of Fame about 8:10 p.m. and said he’d received a phone call from former mayor Kathy Taylor conceding the race.
“This is quite a night,” he said.
During his 14-minute speech, Bartlett called his victory “a mandate to continue the great work we have in front of us.”
“I give you my pledge: I will continue to give it my all,” he said. “It will be my first thought in the morning and my last thought at night — what we can do to continue our job-creation success, to keep the criminal element at bay, to keep our financial resources strong and live within our budget.”
Bartlett also pointed out the 3-to-1 fundraising edge that Taylor enjoyed.
