Amazing Race Finalist & Businessman, Rancher Jet McCoy Announces Bid for Senate District 13
“After all of the places I’ve been to around the world, I still believe Oklahoma is the best place to call home because of the people,” said Jet McCoy in his opening remarks of his campaign video announcement on Thursday, June 11th, 2015. Jet was born and raised in southeastern Oklahoma. At five years old, he found himself in his first saddle for one of the many talents of what he was soon to develop throughout his life.
Prior to receiving his degree in Communications with a study in psychology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Jet attended Oklahoma State University where he was accepted into the President’s Leadership Council – a scholarship and leadership program for outstanding undergraduates that teach the importance of leadership and serving throughout one’s life.
Jet has a diverse work experience that has equipped him to be both a natural and effective leader at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Jet is a thirteen time qualifier to the International Finals Rodeo. He has worked in the energy sector as a pumper & land man for leading regional oil and gas production companies and served as a field representative assisting in trading commodities – all while growing his cow-calf operation at home. He has also managed an operation of more than 4,000 head of cattle in Allen, Oklahoma. Most recently, Jet (along with his brother Cord McCoy) has been a finalist contestant on the hit reality TV show “Amazing Race” for seasons 16, 18, and 21.
Jet and his wife of 10 years Ashlee McCoy have one daughter, Ti Silver and they attend the Church of Christ in Fittstown, Oklahoma. Jet believes in a limited government and believes that individual freedoms shall not be infringed upon. Jet is 100% pro-life, 100% pro-traditional marriage and 100% for the 2nd Amendment. He believes that if we want to start changing the way things coming out of the Capitol look, we have to start changing what we put in it. Jet will advocate for parental rights in education, reducing government’s frivolous spending, encourage economic prosperity through a low-tax environment, advocate for traditional family values such as pro-life and pro-traditional marriage, and he will fight to protect our 2nd Amendment Rights to keep and bear arms.
“Every decision I make is done prayerfully and thoughtfully,” says Jet, “and quite frankly, that’s how our legislature should act as well. It should be about what makes common sense and that real leadership means sacrificially serving the people of our state and districts, respectively.” Jet is a Republican running for the Oklahoma State Senate District 13. The election will be held June 2016.
