Mayor Dewey Bartlett and education officials on Wednesday morning announced the creation of an aviation-industry academy for high school students beginning this fall.
The program fills a long-stated goal of the Bartlett administration: to provide an educated workforce for Tulsa’s aviation and aerospace industry.
The Tulsa Tech Aerospace Academy will open to 40 Tulsa Public Schools juniors and seniors at Tulsa Tech’s Riverside Campus and will last a full school year or potentially two years, according to a release.
All state-mandated curriculum will be fulfilled for students at the full-day Tulsa Tech program, according to the release.
