BREAKING: Jordan Wins Tulsa DA Ballot Test, Will Stay On Ballot
Rep. Fred Jordan to stay on ballot in Tulsa County DA race, court rules
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday ruled that Rep. Fred Jordan can stay on the ballot for the race for Tulsa County district attorney.
Steve Kunzweiler, chief of the criminal division for the Tulsa County DA’s Office, had challenged Jordan’s candidacy in Oklahoma County District Court.
He alleged that Jordan, R-Jenks, was prohibited from running for the office based on a constitutional provision that bars lawmakers from being elected to any office in which the pay had been increased during the lawmaker’s term in the Legislature.
Last session, a measure signed by Gov. Mary Fallin resulted in a pay raise for district attorneys next year. Jordan did not vote on the measure, House Joint Resolution 1096.
