Bridenstine Bill Would Eliminate Federal Income Tax
Rep. Jim Bridenstine: Repeal the Federal Income Tax
By Chris Casteel
Freshman Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Tulsa, has filed a bill aimed at repealing the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which authorized the federal government to create a tax on income.
The long-shot effort would require approval from three-fourths of the states.
“Viable alternative plans for raising revenue fairly to support constitutionally enumerated functions of the federal government have been proposed,” Bridenstine said Monday in a news release.
“As long as the 16th Amendment is in place and lobbyists dominate Washington, these alternatives will never be considered.”
