Bridenstine conflicted over fairness act

WASHINGTON First District U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine said he is undecided on how he will vote on the proposed marketplace fairness act that, if it were to become law, would required Internet merchants to collect and remit sales taxes to the states.
Speaking to a group of Southwest Oklahomans who were participating in this week’s Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce trip to the U.S. Capitol, Bridenstine, R-Tulsa, said he has a constitutional conflict because of the way the Commerce Clause has been as he sees it misapplied in the past.
Through the Commerce Clause, the U.S. Constitution delegates to Congress the right to regulate interstate commerce. The Tulsa representative thinks the issue may be delayed until a later date and taken up as part comprehensive tax reform plan.
