Free Market Friday: Neu is wrong

Education savings accounts allow parents to keep a portion of their child’s per-pupil funding and use it for private-school tuition, tutoring or other educational expenses. They could even save some of it for college.
Rob Neu, the relatively new superintendent of the Oklahoma City Public Schools, doesn’t like the idea.
“The greatest threat to public education in our state today isn’t poverty … (it) is the people elected to represent Oklahomans and Oklahoma’s children,” he said.
That statement is as appalling as it is offensive – especially considering Neu’s district was under investigation by the U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights. His commentary of union talking points and misinformation goes on to raise questions of courage in public policy.
Why would they hire a lefty from the left coast?
