Celebrate Democracy: Washington’s Inaugural Bible Coming To Tulsa November 7
Bible used at George Washington’s inauguration coming to Gilcrease Museum

The Bible that was used in the first presidential inauguration of George Washington will be on display for one day at Gilcrease Museum Nov. 7.
The Bible, owned by the St. John’s Lodge, Ancient York Masons in New York City, will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Gilcrease’s “Focus on Favorites” exhibition.
It will be displayed near the museum’s marble bust of George Washington by Jean Antoine Houdon, and John Vanderlyn’s oil painting, “Washington and Lafayette at the Battle of Brandywine.”
Museum admission will be free for this day.
