Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter narrowly won Tuesday’s runoff election, edging surprise challenger Gentner Drummond by fewer than 300 votes.
Hunter, 62, of Edmond, overcame both widespread public dissatisfaction with incumbents and negative attacks on TV and in mailers.
“I want to say that I respect the fact that democracy is sometimes … a contact sport,” Hunter said Tuesday night. “And this primary was definitely that. This runoff primary.”
With all precincts reporting, Hunter had 148,354 votes (50.05 percent) while Drummond had 148,085 votes (49.95 percent).
