OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Mary Fallin on Thursday tapped Michelle Day to serve as interim Secretary of State.

Day served as assistant secretary of state under Glenn Coffee, who resigned to pursue a job in the private sector. Fallin could name Coffee’s permanent successor by the end of the session.

Day has served as deputy state auditor and general counsel, an assistant district attorney, general counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Central Services and assistant chief counsel and associate counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
