OKLAHOMA CITY — House Speaker Jeff Hickman on Monday unveiled legislation to complete the mothballed American Indian Cultural Center and Museum in Oklahoma City.
Hickman, R-Fairview, said the bill calls for a final $25 million bond issue, which means the state would have put about $100 million into the overall project.
The debt on the $25 million would be retired by diverting what the state currently gives the facility in operation dollars to the tune of $1.9 million, Hickman said.
The state spends $5 million a year on retiring debt from three prior bond issues, Hickman said. The state owes $54 million, which is expected to be paid off in 2027, Hickman said.
