Home Is Where The Heart Is: Largent Settles Back In Tulsa
Familiar face around town: Steve Largent moves back to Tulsa, is serving on TU’s board
by Tulsa World Sports Writer Kelly Hines
Following careers as a football player, a politician and a businessman, what is Steve Largent up to these days?
“I’m a professional board member,” he said. “I’m on four for-profit company boards and then the University of Tulsa’s. Every quarter — every three months — I’m really busy fulfilling all my obligations.”
After graduating from TU in 1976, Largent became a Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver during 14 record-setting seasons with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, served as a congressman for eight years and ran a nonprofit company for 11 years.
Now that he’s retired, the 61-year-old and his wife, Terry, recently completed construction of a new home in midtown and have returned to Tulsa after an absence of a dozen years. Three of their four adult children also live here.
“We’re now full-time Tulsa residents and, of course, we love it,” he said. “This is where our heart and our home is.”
