House Sends ‘Uber Bill’ To Governor
Oklahoma House passes measure to regulate ride-booking services such as Uber, Lyft

The Oklahoma House passed a measure Thursday to set up a framework to regulate ride-booking services such as Uber and Lyft.
The companies rely on individual drivers and an electronic application.
House Bill 1614, by Rep. Katie Henke, R-Tulsa, and Sen. Jason Smalley, R-Stroud, passed, 84-3, now goes to Gov. Mary Fallin.
Henke said that since these services cross city boundaries, it is important to have a statewide regulatory scheme.
“HB 1614 seeks to create a statewide framework in response to the new and innovative ride-sharing networks here in our state and alleviate the potential problems caused by a patchwork of conflicting city ordinances,” she said.
