AP: Bridenstine: Ft. Hood Shooting A ‘Predictable Consequence Of Political Correctness’

Congressman: Political correctness led to Fort Hood massacre

WASHINGTON (AP) — A congressman faults political correctness in the military for allowing the 2009 rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead and dozens wounded.

Oklahoma Republican Jim Bridenstine says the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Hasan, was open about his radical Islamist views before the shooting, but his Army superiors didn’t take action for fear of appearing intolerant.

At a Washington news conference, Bridenstine said the Fort Hood shootings were “the hideous but entirely predictable consequences of political correctness in the military today.”

Hasan’s murder trial at the Texas Army post is beginning with jury selection, which could take a month.

The Army psychiatrist said today that he wants to tell potential jurors that he’s being forced to wear a military uniform which he believes represents “an enemy of Islam.”
