Lieutenant Governor Announces Recipients of the Small Business Award of Excellence
Oklahoma City –Lt. Governor Todd Lamb hosted the 17th Annual Small Business Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, April 29th. Lt. Governor Lamb, who serves in the Governor’s Cabinet as the Small Business Advocate, recognized three of Oklahoma’s successful small businesses. Advantage Controls of Muskogee, SportChassis of Clinton, and Vacuworx of Tulsa were awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Small Business Award of Excellence.
Lt. Governor Lamb said that “these businesses are just a few examples of what make our state great: Small businesses truly an instrumental part of our economy.”
Advantage Controls offers a variety of controls, pumps, and systems for use in water treatment. The company currently does business in all 50 states and multiple countries worldwide. For 20 years, SportChassis has been a leader in the design of right hand drive chassis’, and currently employ 42. Vacuworx has evolved from a small company to a thriving one, with a workforce of 45 employees. The company now exports its work to Europe, Africa, and South America.
According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses total over 97% of all Oklahoma’s employers. “Oklahoma businesses of all sizes power our economy, but small businesses are the pistons that power the engine,” said Lt. Governor Todd Lamb.
“Small Business Day is an important day to recognize their importance. Oklahoma’s future is limitless as long as we continue to remove obstacles to growth,” concluded Lamb.
