Lankford To Visit Iowa, Address Top Social Conservative Conference
TheOkie.com Staff Report
Oklahoma Senator James Lankford (R) will once again take the national stage when he addresses the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s “Fall Family Banquet” in Des Moines, Iowa next week.
Senator Lankford will be joined by Iowa Senator Joni Ernst (R) and several other Iowa state officials.
The annual dinner traditionally attracts national attention and is widely seen as a prime opportunity to address social conservatives on a national stage.
The Oklahoma Senator has garnered national attention recently for his work with South Carolina Senator Tim Scott on the issue of race relations. Lankford and Scott have encouraged Americans to spend time getting to know their neighbors and to break bread with someone of a different race. The idea is known as “Solutions Sunday.”
As a pro-life conservative, James Lankford is a favorite of the Faith and Freedom Coalition. The conference centers around the messages of the dignity of life, strength of family and the foundations of a free society. Lankford previously addressed the conference in 2016.
According to the American Conservative Union, Lankford is the 3rd most conservative Senator in Washington. He was re-elected last November and set an Oklahoma record for most number of votes.
