Contributions to 1st District U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine’s campaign surged in the second quarter of 2013, reports filed Monday night with the Federal Election Commission show.
The first-term Republican raised less than $20,000 in the first three months of the year and reported only $17,250 in cash on March 31, but since then he has raised $127,705 and ended the quarter June 30 with better than $136,000 in cash.
Notable donors during the quarter included Tulsa City Councilor G.T. Bynum and state Labor Commissioner Mark Costello, each of whom gave $2,500.
One of the largest single donors to the Bridenstine campaign was the Citizens United Political Victory Fund, the conservative political action committee that was the plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. Citizens United gave Bridenstine $10,000.
