House Speaker McCall Ready to Allow Vote on Inman’s Own Bill Raising GPT to 5 Percent if House Democrats Pass Revenue Bills
House Speaker Charles McCall today said he is prepared to allow a vote on Minority Leader Scott Inman’s own legislation – House Bill 1009 – that he filed for special session to increase the gross production tax from 2 percent to 5 percent for the first 36 months if House Democrats will pass House Bill 1035 on the floor today.
“I will move Leader Inman’s own bill direct to calendar so it can be heard on the floor tomorrow and receive a straight up or down vote if House Democrats will pass the revenue agreement today,” said Speaker McCall, R-Atoka. “We don’t even have to draft a new bill because Leader Inman filed a single subject bill at the beginning of special session that would that would do exactly what his caucus wants – increase the gross production tax to 5 percent for the first 36 months.”
